The beach resort of Santa Caterina is situated on the Ionian Coast in the Salento of Puglia and officially under the comune of Nardò.
There are several aspects to Santa Caterina with the highlight being the area around the marina where the water is at its most dazzling blue. There's also a very small beach here but a slightly larger one further away from the centre. |

Behind the main marina there are several restaurants as well as a modern piazza lined with shops and further places to eat and drink. If you continue west around the headland you reach another area which is a peaceful bay backed by a pine forest.
If visiting Santa Caterina it also makes sense to spend some of the day at the nearby resort of Santa Maria al Bagno which is just a few kilometres away and a pleasant walk of half an hour or so.
