Welcome to Puglia Review: the English guide to Puglia! The website has been created as part of the Italy Review series of websites that showcase different parts of the country.
In terms of international tourism, Puglia is still somewhat on the fringes of the mainstream in terms of Italian tourism, compared to the likes of Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast and the lakes of the north, but it's one of the prettiest of the 20 regions of Italy. We aim to bring Puglia to you so you can discover it with us, not only through the pages of the website, but by using our services for private transfers and a wide range of tours and experiences. |
We really want you to be inspired by this beautiful region in the south-eastern corner of Italy and our Explore Puglia section is designed precisely for that purpose.
There are a number of elements that make up tourism in Puglia and first among those comes from the larger cities. Bari is the capital of the region but it's beautiful Lecce in the heart of the Salento region that really makes the eyes pop with its Lecce Baroque architecture. The region's interior is full of history with historic hill towns but it's really the coastal areas which provide the main attraction in the region, both on the Gargano Peninsula and the Salento Beaches. |
Once you've decided whereabouts in Puglia you'd like to visit, the next question is how to get there. In the Puglia Travel section you'll find all the resources you need to help you on your way.
The two main commercial airports in Puglia can be found in Bari and Brindisi, both on the eastward-facing Adriatic Coast. From these two airports it's a simple task to reach most destinations in the region and we can assist with your onward transportation via our private transfer service. It's also possible to reach Puglia by sea or visit the stunning Tremiti Islands so we provide the timetables for every possible ferry route. |
One of the most exciting developments for us in recent years has been the link-up with strategic partners like Viator who have enabled us to bring you a wide range of Puglia Tours.
We've seen the wide range of places to visit in Puglia, but it's now possible to take things a stage further and really get to know the region while having fun and meeting new people. There are dozens of tours that involve food; either teaching you how to make the local orecchiette pasta or by taking a tour of a local vineyard. If that sort of thing is a little too sedate for you, then we can also help you get active with kayak and bicycle tours. |
Another key partner for us is Booking.com who provide us with their accommodation search engines. In our Puglia Hotels section you'll find thousands of options to choose from to suit your needs.
The sophisticated booking facilities allow you to really drill down and pinpoint the type of accommodation you're looking for. You may want to be right next to a beach, in the middle of a city centre or somewhere remote where you can enjoy peace and quiet. With just a few clicks you can gradually start to work your way through the options, find the right solution that fits your budget and then check genuine reviews before booking with confidence. |
We've included the Puglia section so that we can describe the region in a bit more depth. Aside from the pages of places to see and things to do, this is where we take a look into the geography of the region, its history and its culture.
Like each of the 20 regions of Italy, Puglia is split into a number of provinces, six of them to be precise. Each province has its own idiosyncrasies, highlights and topographical features which are useful to research a little bit before your visit. Equally, Puglia has a number of sub-regions discover such as the aforementioned Gargano Peninsula and the Salento coastal area. |
